There are parts of MEAD (in the Essence library module) which check
specifically for a file named 'enidf.dir', so if your dbm module isn't
makeing db files that way, you want to change that. Look in the
'open_nidf' function in mead/lib/Essence/IDF.pm. That's where your
mead run is crashing and burning.
