Hi Yi --
There will be at least one problem with porting the MEAD system that I
forsee. MEAD uses the expat XML parser, whose engine is written in C. I
don't believe it will compile under windows 2000. You would have to rewrite
all of the XML-parsing code. This might be a sizeable task, depending on
how thorough a job you want to do.
MEAD is written in perl, so the core part of the code should run on windows
2000, provided you have a good perl interpreter, and you can work out the
directory structure. I have never tried it myself, and I have no plans to
do so in the near future.
That having been said, you're more than welcome to email me specific
questions if you'd like to try porting it to windows. I will do my best to
answer what I can.
